Things to do in Henley-on-Thames - make the most of your photoshoot with a day out!

Updated: Jul 2

If you're local to Henley-on-Thames you'll know just how much of a picturesque town it is full of wonderful things to do and brilliant restaurants.

As you're over this way for your photoshoot I thought I would put together a list of local things to do to really make the most of your day out. Whether you want to take the kids out for the day, enjoy a lunch or simply go for a stroll and ice-cream, or hot chocolate, depending on the time of year, Henley-on-Thames has plenty to offer.

THINGS TO DO

Firstly, Henley has a beautiful walk along the river Thames which takes you through fields, a

play park which caters for all ages and at certain times of the year there is a fun fair along

the way. During your walk you will come across several ice cream stalls and benches to have

a rest on. If you want to make the most of the walk you could stop with a takeaway lunch from one of the many cafes and restaurants or opt for a simple picnic.

By the river is Hobbs of Henley Boat Hire. Usually, you can just turn up and hop in a boat,

but it may be safer to book one online. They provide life jackets and are super friendly as

they are a family run business which started in 1870. You could take some food aboard with

you and totally relax.

If you are a National Trust Member, just outside of Henley is Greys Court which is beautiful

to walk around at all times of the year (just bring your umbrella if the skies look iffy).

If the weather is being typically British, don’t worry there are other activities you could do.

There is a quirky Pottery painting café where your kids can paint, and you can relax with a

coffee. Don’t be embarrassed if you want to paint something too – painting is therapeutic

and fun! Remember that you will have to return to the shop to collect your items around a

week later.

Henley is also the proud owner of their own tiny Cinema, you can find out what’s on through their website. Lastly but not least Henley has The River and Rowing Museum where you could get involved with their special events, exhibitions or enjoy their café and spend some time being a tourist.

RESTAURANTS

There's plenty of trusted chain restaurants if you want to go risk free with the kids, Pizza Express, The Catherine Wheel (weatherspoons) and Cafe Rouge are available.

For the best Mexican food, you can visit Pachangas – yes, this town does have all areas

covered. You could book a room or a table at Hotel du Vin . This scenic riverside hotel provides afternoon tea, alfresco bar and dining and my all-time favourite cocktails – I recommend the expresso martini.

If you are looking for an exotic change, why not have dinner at The Giggling Squid which I

can recommend for the tastiest Thai food and the calming atmosphere.

Another classic pub is The Little Angel – This is located over the bridge and on the river and

if the sun is out, you’ll enjoy catching some vitamin D.

For something, a little different you could stop at one of the famous attractions the

Chocolate Cafe – why not have a hot coffee while indulging in something sweet.

If you are into more mainstream coffee shops, Henley has you covered also. There is a Costa

– the nations favourite coffee shop, and there is a Caffè Nero .

Another casual place to eat which as many options for you to choose from is our very own

Coppa Club .

PARKING

Henley has many carparks and if you are happy to take a little walk into the town centre you could find somewhere on road where you won’t have to pay. There is a carpark located at

Waitrose, there is one located at the train station and finally there is one located on Grey’s

Road (near the Pizza Express).

I hope that gives you a few ideas to make the most of your day out and photoshoot at our studio! x
